Event Description

Did you know that leaves in the street can increase phosphorus and algae blooms in our lakes? Have you ever wondered what is so great about rain gardens? Have you noticed murals painted around stormdrains in town and wondered what they were all about?

Join us for this Stormwater Pollution and Solutions presentation with Christal Campbell, Stormwater Education Coordinator with the Madison Area Municipal Stormwater Partnership  (MAMSWaP) to learn about these topics and more! Christal will provide a brief stormwater overview talking about some of the main water pollution threats in Dane County as well as what you can do to help keep our lakes, rivers, and streams clean.

Christal will use a tabletop rainfall simulator to demonstrate what happens when it rains on different types of surfaces, such as lawn grass, prairie, and pavement and what impact that can have on our water resources. She will also let you know about several different programs and tools available to help you take easy actions that can make a Ripple Effect on our waters. Some of these programs include Plant Dane, Leaf-free Streets, Stormdrain Murals and Wisconsin Salt Wise.

Gates open at 5:30 PM and the presentation starts at 6:00 PM.  Please bring your own chairs or blankets and set up 6 ft. from other attendees.  Arrive early to get drinks from Delta Beer Lab.
