Capital Water Trails-Stream-Clearing Work Party

Event Dates

  • Saturday, 06/29/2024 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.

Event Description

Volunteer with Capitol Water Trails on two stream clearing workdays. Volunteers will help haul cut branches and logs out of the streambed. Work from the streambed or walk the shoreline. Help with hand sawing smaller branches can also be useful.

You are welcome to bring your own boat and hand saws, but there will be multiple canoes and saws for use by volunteers. Dress for the weather and the water. Token Creek is spring-fed and cold year round.

June 29, 9 am - 1 pm, Cherokee Marsh Wildlife Area, 4641 Liuna Way, DeForest, WI 53532.

Meet up off HWY 19 on Liuna Way, take the gravel road to the landing.

We will be clearing the upper Yahara downstream from HWY 19. This stretch has many blockages. The work party will be an initial effort at what will likely be a multi-year project.
