Lake Levels, Aquatic Plants and Other Lake Issues

Event Description

The Friends of Lake Kegonsa Society is hosting a talk on lake levels, aquatic plants and other lake issues. They are expecting a big turnout, so please register below by Nov. 15th, if you plan to attend.  

Two of our staff members will be speaking:

John Reimer is the Assistant Director of the Dane County LWRD. His technical background has focused on modeling and analysis of watersheds, rivers, and lakes. John is responsible for lake level management including the management of the three dams in the Yahara Chain of Lakes. John will be discussing what the county has done this year to help to improve water flow between the Yaraha Lakes and what is planned to better control water levels in the future.

Peter Jopke is the Water Resources Planner for the Dane County LWRD.  As a Water Resources Planner, Pete works primarily on lake and stream management including aquatic plant management, fisheries, habitat and invasive species.  He has 28 years of experience including time spent with DNR, the USFWS and Dane County.  Pete will be discussing plant harvesting totals for 2019, 2019 equipment investments, future harvesting plans, the 2019 plant sonar survey and the Lake Kegonsa fish survey.
